In the golden light of a late Sunday afternoon, Lisa and I left the shop with a hundred cinnamon rugelach and a pot of freshly brewed coffee. We traveled across the river and into Brooklyn to find ourselves, in the fading violet light of early dusk, at the entrance to an enchanting world–the Kinfolk dinner.
We stepped out of New York
and into a place
where time moves slowly,
where faeries may gather.
After we left, we had trouble explaining to others where we had been, what we were doing.
